Your saved words
Where your vocabulary lives, how safe it is, and how to remove it.
Where are my words stored?
- As a guest (not signed in), your words live only in this browser's local storage, on this device.
- Signed in, your words live in your LingoLark account. The extension keeps just the words saved from the page you're on in this browser. Everything else is fetched from your account when you need it. See Cloud sync.
Are my words backed up?
- Signed in: yes. Your account is the backup. Your words are stored on LingoLark's servers, and LingoLark backs up that database, so losing a laptop or reinstalling Chrome doesn't lose them.
- As a guest: no. Guest words exist only in this browser. To keep them safe, create an account. Guest words you saved before signing up or logging in are brought into your account.
What if I uninstall the extension or clear my browser data?
- Guest words are gone. They were only in this browser.
- Account words are safe. Sign in again and they come back.
Can I export my words?
Not today.
How do I delete words?
- One word: click the X on its card, in the extension's side panel or in the web reader. A Deleted "…". Undo message appears for a few seconds. Click Undo to put the word back exactly as it was. After that, the delete is permanent. See Deleting words.
- Many words, or all of them: signed in, use Vocab on the website. Tick words and click Delete (with Undo), or Delete all … words after typing a confirmation. See Deleting many words at once.
- Everything, including your account: delete your account from Settings on the website. See Delete account for what that removes and what stays on your device.
